Welcome to Mathematics Department, Mathematics is a subject that is useful in many disciplines, namely, Social Sciences, Engineering, Pure and Applied Sciences, et cetera. Nature is replete with elegant Mathematical patterns and structures.
It has been rightly remarked that the laws of nature are fashioned in the language of Mathematics. It turns out then that the study of mathematics is an indispensable discipline in any scientific institution worth its name.
We offer a number of programs, which include but not limited to, B.Sc. in Mathematics, B.Sc. in Applied Statistics with Information Technology, B.Sc. in Mathematics and Economics with Information Technology, B.Sc. in Mathematics with Information Technology, M.Sc. in Applied Mathematics, M.Sc. in Pure Mathematics, M.Sc. in Statistics, PhD in Applied Mathematics, PhD in Pure Mathematics and PhD in Statistics.
We render services to a number of departments within the university by way of teaching Mathematical components in their curriculum. The mission of our department is to produce graduates (both undergraduate and postgraduate), in areas ranging from Pure Mathematics, Applied Mathematics and Statistics, with high quality education and research experience well prepared for diverse career opportunities such as are in banking industry, research institutions, financial institutions among others.
Mathematics department is situated in the third floor of Science Building block. Welcome again!
Philosophical Framework
The Department of Mathematics is founded on the belief that mathematics is the universal language of science, technology, and logical reasoning. Our philosophy is to cultivate analytical thinking, creativity, and precision that empower learners to understand and solve complex problems across diverse disciplines.
We view mathematics not only as a tool for computation but as a discipline that nurtures intellectual curiosity, innovation, and critical inquiry. Through rigorous teaching, research, and community engagement, the Department aims to produce graduates who can apply mathematical principles to advance knowledge, drive technological development, and contribute to evidence-based decision-making in society.
Guided by values of excellence, integrity, and collaboration, we strive to create an environment that inspires lifelong learning and fosters mathematical competence for sustainable national and global development. This philosophy aligns with MMUST’s mission of advancing science and technology for societal transformation.
