Elizabeth Wangari, an undergraduate student pursuing Bachelor of Science (Biology) in the Department of Biological Sciences (School of Natural Sciences-MMUST), on Industrial Attachment at Fresha dairy Plant (Githunguri Dairy Farmers Cooperative Society Ltd-GDFCS) in Kiambu County, under the mentorship of Quality Assurance Supervisor Mr. Elijah Kimani and Prof. John Muoma (MMUST), in June 2021.
“During my attachment in GDFCS, I successfully learnt the processing of milk and its products including butter, ghee, yoghurt and lala. I also got to learn ways of reviewing and revising testing procedures, conducting inspection checks on goods and production processes, performing monitoring procedures of products, ensuring employees adhere to safety and quality regulations and ensuring products that are produced are of high quality and are free from microbial contaminants. ‘At GDFCS we provide thorough training for students on Industrial Attachment towards competence and responsibility as workers’ says Mr. Elijah Kimani.
